Her Voice ~ National Poetry Month, Day 14

She told me everything
While I slept.
A streaming whisper
That blinked like ebony eyelashes
Over my thorny garden
She covered me with thunder and wolf calls…
And when the morning peeled back in layers
She spat me on the sandy shore
A broken mess of bones and blistered eyes
And left me
To forget
Every Thing
Except the sound of her voice
It was the call of the center of the earth
It was the warm saltwater as it brought me
Back to my senses
I was born again
In a hardened pink seashell
And I realized what she called me to do
So I swallowed the entire universe
So I could find you.
