gears ~ National Poetry Month, Day 4

With your thumb and forefinger
Turn the dial
Hear the clink of gears
Clockwise. One by one.

Make sure it’s tight
Then watch me unwind
Dripping like honey
It’s only time –

Forward or backward
One way or another
It will unfold…

Wings open
Clouds bloom
The moon hangs.

Time is like a ribbon
Laced in your hair…
Either way,
We’ll get there.
